The Head of Data & AI will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the Data & AI vision. The role will initially focus on optimizing the data infrastructure, ensuring robust governance, and creating a data-first culture. Part of this will be the integration of advanced data science, ML, and AI solutions into the business. Following on to that, the role offers perspectives across the wider business, including the development of data products. This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious and hands-on Head of Data to lead a lean function, with autonomy to shape its future and define and own the data and AI strategy. 

Responsibilities:
 
Strategic Leadership 

• Define and implement a data and AI/ML strategy  
• Analyze the business needs and recommend data-driven strategies to enhance internal operations and decision-making 
• Assess and introduce AI/ML products and technologies that align with business goals 

Value Creation  

• Identify opportunities to maximize the commercial value of data  
• Utilize AI and ML applications to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making 

Data Infrastructure & Management  

• Oversee and evolve the existing data architecture into a highly scalable and efficient base for advanced analytics and AI use cases 
• Ensure data integrity, quality, and compliance through strong governance practices 
• Manage, mentor and develop our data team 
• Oversee and optimize data visualization and reporting tools 
• Democratize data and enable the business to make data-driven decisions 

Stakeholder Engagement  

• Act as an advisor to senior stakeholders, communicating complex data concepts in a clear and compelling way 
• Collaborate with internal teams to identify opportunities where data and AI can drive value  
• Build a strong partnership between the data function and other business units to ensure alignment with strategic goals

• Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business Informatics, Engineering, Physics or a related field. PhD is a plus
• At least 5 years of experience in data analytics, data strategy, AI or in a similar field
• Commercially savvy with a strong understanding of how to align data initiatives with business objectives 
• Familiarity with AI, ML, and data science applications, and the ability to assess their strategic relevance 
• Expertise in data warehousing, data architecture, and data governance 
• Strong knowledge of BI tools and data visualization best practice 
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage and convince others
• Good german language skills (at least level B2) as well as good english language skills are a must have
